Seapoint, Beyond the Golf Course
You’ve probably driven past Seapoint Golf Links on the way out to Termonfeckin Beach plenty of times and assumed it was only for golfers, or that you’d need to know a member to pop in. You don’t. The bar, restaurant and outdoor terrace at Seapoint are open to all.
A restaurant and bar with one of the best views in the North East
The setting is the thing. Seapoint sits on 260 acres of links land just outside Drogheda, where the Boyne Valley meets the Irish Sea. Look one way and you’ve the open sea and Termonfeckin Beach. Look the other and the Cooley and Mourne mountains sit on the horizon. The terrace overlooks the 18th hole, and on a clear evening it’s hard to beat anywhere in the North East for a glass of wine or a slow pint.
Not your traditional golf club
Inside, it isn’t the traditional golf club setup people sometimes picture. As the team describe it themselves, a new, fresh environment with a very warm welcome, with a stunning bar and restaurant and a unique view of the Irish Sea. In recent years, Seapoint has leaned into being a place for the wider community as much as a golfing one, with the same welcome applying whether you’re a member, a first-timer, or just stopping in on the way home from the beach.
Sunday Lunch, Ã la carte dining and a bar open to the public
The food sits alongside the view rather than competing with it. Sunday Lunch, Ã la carte dining, and the bar are open to the public day to day, with family occasions, private dining and corporate days handled separately. Packages for the bigger days are bespoke rather than fixed: three-course meals, Prosecco arrivals, summer BBQs on the balcony, whatever suits. Ask the team what makes families commit on the spot and the answer is almost always the same. It’s the view, and the outdoor area looking out over the sea.
Family occasions, weddings and private events at Seapoint
Christenings, Communions, Confirmations, milestone birthdays, small weddings and corporate days all sit comfortably at Seapoint. With the room set up to your day and the sea on the doorstep, it’s become one of the go-to private event venues in Louth for families looking for something a step outside the usual hotel function room.
A links course with a serious reputation
It’s also a venue with serious form on the wider stage. The course was once described by Padraig Harrington as having “not a weak hole” on it, and Seapoint has hosted the Irish Legends and Irish Amateur championships in recent years. But beyond the golf calendar, what stays with people who go for the first time is usually simpler than that. The drive out, the air off the sea, the light off the water, the warmth of the room you walk into.
Why Seapoint is partnering with Drogheda Life
On the decision to work with Drogheda Life for this Giveaway, Gerry Kelly of Seapoint said: “We wanted to partner with a local media agency to connect into the heart of the local community and showcase what we have to offer on the edge of town, for anyone looking for something different when going for a simple lunch or booking a family occasion in a very special location.”
