Drogheda United Set for Derry City at Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium

Drogheda United face Derry City away on Friday in the first game played on the new surface at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium.

The Boynesiders head into this game following a 2-2 draw at home to Shelbourne last Friday.

The visitors took the lead after 16 minutes through Harry Wood, before Thomas Oluwa equalised for the Boynesiders eight minutes later, rising highest in the box to head home Brandon Kavanagh’s corner.

Drogheda took the lead on 36 minutes, with Mark Doyle finding the bottom corner to score his ninth goal of the season, after brilliant buildup play by Jason Bucknor.

The sides were level again on 65 minutes as Harry Wood scored his second of the game, bundling in from close range after two saves by Luke Dennison.

Drogheda pushed to find a winner, with Ryan Brennan and Brandon Kavanagh both having chances late on, but the points were shared.

The first game between Derry and Drogheda this season ended in a 2-2 draw at the Brandywell, while a Ryan Brennan penalty earned Drogheda the points in a 1-0 win the last time the sides met.

In team news, Owen Lambe, Warren Davis, Kieran Cruise and Andrew Quinn remain sidelined through injury.
