Tredagh Boxing Academy enjoyed a strong showing at the recent Leinster Youths Boxing Championships held in Athy over two weekends, with nine boxers representing the Drogheda club.

The team produced several impressive performances throughout the competition, with a number of boxers progressing to the later stages against tough opposition from across Leinster.
Among those reaching the finals was Andrew Mathews, who delivered two strong performances on his way to the final before narrowly losing on a split decision to take home a silver medal after an excellent campaign.
The club celebrated four Leinster champions over the course of the championships. Conan McCormack claimed gold after a determined performance in his final against a Wexford opponent. Cian Smyth also secured the Leinster title following a thrilling final against hometown boxer Patrick Ward from Athy, in a bout that was later described as the fight of the day on the Leinster Development Squad social media page.
Michael James McDonagh continued his impressive run by winning the Leinster title for a fifth consecutive year after defeating strong opposition from Ashbourne in the final. Vinny Devine was also crowned Leinster champion during the championships.
All four gold medal winners have now qualified for the upcoming All Ireland Championships, where they will represent the club at national level.
Other Tredagh boxers including Ceejay Sheelan, Jamie Campbell, Dominic Maguire and Charlie Flannagan also delivered strong performances during the competition and gained valuable experience against high quality opposition.
Club officials praised the efforts of all nine boxers who represented Team Tredagh and acknowledged the work of the coaching team who prepared the athletes for the championships.
