Susan Connolly’s new collection of poems sells out on launch night

Drogheda poet Susan Connolly’s new collection of poems Looking Across the River , which was launched recently in Barlow House was a resounding success. Much to Susan’s surprise, the book almost sold out on the night and may now have to go into a second edition.

This unique hardback and handmade book, published by Red Fox Press on Achill Island, is Susan’s homage to her hometown of Drogheda and its surrounding landscape.

The author and noted local historian, John Mc Cullen, launched Susan’s book with great gusto and regaled the large audience with some excellent local stories.

Susan then read poems from the different sections of her book and also made reference to her late niece Emily O’ Reilly, late of Beamore.

The music performed by Mick O’Brien uilleann pipes, Breifne Holohan guitar and Michael Holohan piano, remembered Emily’s love of music and her great love of life.

Members of the O’Reilly and Connolly family were present at the launch. Susan and her family thanked Collette Farrell and the staff of The Droichead Arts Centre for providing such a beautiful venue for this memorable evening.

The last few copies of the first edition can be obtained from connollysusan22@gmail.com.
