The Irish Heart Foundation’s Mobile Health Unit will visit Drogheda this Wednesday, May 13, as part of a nationwide campaign offering free heart health checks in communities across Ireland.
The unit will be located at Allcare Pharmacy Drogheda from 10am until 3.45pm.
Members of the public will have the opportunity to receive free blood pressure and pulse checks aimed at promoting heart health and encouraging early detection of hypertension, also known as high blood pressure, which is one of the leading causes of cardiovascular disease.
The Mobile Health Unit carries out up to 10,000 free blood pressure checks every year, helping to identify people who may be unaware they have hypertension.
During the checks, expert nurses also provide lifestyle advice and information on maintaining good heart health.
The service can also help detect atrial fibrillation, an irregular heartbeat that can increase the risk of serious health complications.
