Soprano, Amie Dyer, has been enthralling audiences in Drogheda since she was 15 years of age.
Her passion for singing began in her local primary school, St Paul’s NS, where she received great encouragement from her music teachers, Niall Boyle and Paula O’Neill.
Her lovely singing voice saw her progress to her local Holy Family Church Choir in Ballsgrove, where she received further encouragement from her Parish Priest, Fr David Bradley.
Her lovely soprano voice has always been exceptional and another great Drogheda Musical Director, Mr David Leddy, brought Amie Dyer into sing as the Drogheda Male Voice Choir Soprano at the tender age of 15years.
She has been a permanent feature ever since with the Drogheda Male Voice Choir and, quite often, has made great sacrifices to return to sing with the choir whilst carrying out her musical studies in Glasgow and performing in Opera in Austria.
Her musical career aspirations were really advanced with the help of another of Amie’s friends, Fr Phil Gaffney, who was Parish Priest in St Mary’s in Drogheda at the time.
He formed a group of sponsors who helped Amie through her musical studies at the Royal Irish Musical Academy from where she graduated with her Musical Degree.
She went on to study music for another two years in the Royal Glasgow Conservatoire to successfully complete her master’s degree in music. From there her musical career took her to Austria where she spent two years under contract at the Linz Opera House.
When her operatic contract ended in Austria, she returned to Ireland and has been recording and singing in recitals in various parts of the country. However, she has struck up a musical partnership with her friend, tenor, David Corr, whom she met during their musical studies in Royal Conservatoire Glasgow.
David is an excellent tenor, and they have combined with accompanist Maji Elliot to put together a marvellous production of classical musical which also has a beautiful Irish touch and is entitled “Sonairi”.
Whilst Amie Dyer is already well established and acclaimed an excellent Soprano in her own town, it has always been her burning ambition to produce and perform her own recital in her native town.
The opportunity for her to do so, has now arisen when she will perform her production of “Sonairi” with David Corr in St Peters Church of Ireland in Drogheda on Friday the 2nd of October at 7:30pm.
As Amie says; “Since I have come back to Ireland, I have collaborated with my friend, David Corr, to share our passion for beautiful music, humour and artistic expression which we have put together to bring an innovative blend of Classical Elegance, Celtic Soul and Musical Theatre to the stage to perform “Sonairi”.
“I’m so thrilled to get the opportunity to launch this recital in my hometown and I’m so grateful to St Peters Church of Ireland in Drogheda for helping me and look forward to singing for all the people who have helped, encouraged, and supported me throughout my singing career”.
Amie Dyer has given entertainment, joy, and solace in equal proportion to many audiences & families in her hometown, whether onstage, religious services, funerals, or weddings.
This time we can expect Amie and David with accompanist Maji to offer an emotional, captivating journey through classical, musical theatre and Irish music tradition which will undoubtedly make it an “Awakening” to remember.
Tickets are available for the recital online at www.Sonairi.com.
