Working Together for a Cleaner, Greener Drogheda in 2026

Drogheda Tidy Towns is encouraging everyone to make 2026 a year of collective action, building on the positive work already taking place to keep Drogheda clean, tidy and welcoming.

Across the town, many people are already making a real difference, often quietly and without recognition. Resident groups, businesses, community organisations, schools, sports clubs and individual volunteers have adopted spaces, carried out clean-ups and helped regenerate key areas. Their ongoing efforts are an important part of improving how Drogheda looks and feels.

In 2026, Drogheda Tidy Towns hopes to expand this voluntary effort by encouraging more people to get involved in litter picks, local clean-ups and small practical actions that enhance the town’s appearance. While Louth County Council has the primary responsibility for maintaining public spaces, there is widespread agreement that additional community involvement can make a meaningful difference.

By working together and taking shared responsibility, Drogheda can continue to improve its presentation and create a cleaner, more attractive town for everyone who lives, works and visits here.

A big thank you to everyone who took part in our January litter pick. The event showed how even one hour of effort can make a real difference. Just as important was the strong sense of achievement and community spirit on the day, something we hope to build on even more in the year ahead.

Every Hour Counts and Every Person Helps

Whether you can spare an hour a month or get involved more regularly, every contribution makes a real difference. Drogheda Tidy Towns runs one or two organised litter picks each month, while also supporting people who want to start local clean-ups or small actions that collectively improve the town.
