A woman in her seventies has been tragically killed following a road traffic accident in Ardee.
Gardai said the collision between two cars and a truck occurred at Bridge Street in the town, at approximately 11:25am this morning.
The elderly woman, driver and only occupant of one the cars, was brought by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where she was pronounced dead. A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
No other injuries have been reported at this time.
The road has closed for Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to conduct an examination of the scene.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 11:00 and 11:00am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
