Wheelchair Donation Improves Accessibility at Laurence’s Shopping Centre in Drogheda

The East Meath and Louth Defibrillator Unit has donated a wheelchair to Laurence’s Shopping Centre to support elderly and disabled customers while shopping.

The wheelchair will be available on site for those who need assistance, helping to create a more accessible and comfortable experience for visitors.

The initiative was officially launched at the shopping centre, with those in attendance including Jim Shields and Karen Smith of the Defibrillator Unit, Councillor Declan Power, centre manager Peter Thompson, XL shop owner Imran Ishfaq and Amber staff member Audrey Cooney.

Speakers highlighted the value of practical supports that make everyday activities more accessible, particularly for more vulnerable members of the community. The project also reflects strong collaboration between local organisations, businesses and public representatives in Drogheda.

The East Meath and Louth Defibrillator Unit thanked everyone involved and said it looks forward to supporting similar community focused initiatives in the future.
