Just Eat has launched its 12th annual awards, with two restaurants in County Louth shortlisted as Ireland’s most popular food businesses compete for a major prize worth €100,000.
The Just Eat Awards celebrate restaurants, grocers and retailers across Ireland, recognising the partners that customers return to time and again. This year’s awards come at a time when Ireland’s food scene continues to expand in quality, variety and customer experience.
Two Louth restaurants have been shortlisted. Sitar Indian Restaurant and Takeaway is nominated in the Best Indian and Nepalese category, while Il Forno has been shortlisted for Best Pizza.
In total, 105 restaurants have been shortlisted nationwide across twelve categories. New and expanded award categories have been introduced this year, including Best Healthy and Salads, alongside returning favourites such as Best Lunch and Best Mexican.
The Independent Restaurant of the Year award will be presented to the restaurant that receives the highest number of public votes across its category and overall. The winning restaurant will receive a €100,000 prize fund, the largest prize ever awarded by Just Eat, designed to support business growth through marketing and promotional activity.
Voting is now open and will run until February 8 at 11.59pm. Customers who vote will also be entered into a draw to win free Just Eat for a year.
Commenting on the launch of the awards, Amanda Roche Kelly, Managing Director of Just Eat Ireland, said Ireland’s food sector continues to show resilience despite rising costs and ongoing pressures.
“Ireland’s food scene is in a strong place, even though restaurants are dealing with rising costs and ongoing pressures across the sector. What stands out is the effort and care that goes into every order, from the food itself to the service people experience every day.
“The Just Eat Awards are about recognising independent restaurants that people genuinely love and rely on in their communities including the two restaurants in Louth that have been nominated. By awarding this €100,000 prize to the Independent Restaurant of the Year, Just Eat is committed to investing this media value for the winning partner to help further grow and evolve their business in 2026.”
Further information on the awards and voting is available on the Just Eat website.
