Enable Ireland, the charity that supports over 25,000 children and young people with disabilities in communities across Ireland, is celebrating 25 years of partnership with TK Maxx during which time its customers have raised over €4million for the charity.
Since the first TK Maxx store opened 25 years ago in Dublin, TK Maxx associates and customers have supported Enable Ireland’s vital work with children and young people with disabilities.
Enable Ireland’s Drogheda shop in Shop Street is always very busy and is renowned for the quality of the donated items on sale. It also boasts one of the best dressed shop windows in town.
The partnership has raised money over the years through customer till donations, associate fundraising, charity merchandise ranges and through TK Maxx’s Give Up Clothes For Good campaign, which encourages customers to donate quality pre-loved items in-store.
The donated items are then sold in Enable Ireland charity shops, like their shop on Shop Street, Drogheda, to raise funds to support children with disabilities.
Speaking on the partnership, John O’Sullivan Enable Ireland CEO said, “What started as a simple coin collection in the first TK Maxx store in Stephen’s Green in 1997 is now a long-term national partnership with TK Maxx and Homesense spanning a quarter of a century.
“Donations raised have supported children and young people with disabilities in communities across Ireland including the funding of purpose built children’s service centres, transport services, specialist equipment and assistive technology. None of this would be possible without the support of TK Maxx customers and associates and we thank you for your incredible support.”

Clare O’Hare, regional director of TK Maxx Ireland said: “We are incredibly proud to have reached this milestone of 25 years in partnership with Enable Ireland, raising over €4 million through the generosity of our customers and associates. These funds have helped Enable Ireland to support 25,000 children and young people with disabilities across the country and we are so grateful to everyone that has been involved over the years for their contribution to the charity.
Funds raised through the partnership have been used by Enable Ireland to support specific projects directly benefiting children and young people with disabilities around the country.
Members of the public can continue to support Enable Ireland by bringing their quality pre-loved fashion and homeware to any TK Maxx store all year round. Everything donated is then sold in an Enable Ireland charity shop or recycled, to raise funds for services for children with disabilities.
TK Maxx can accept good quality clean clothing, shoes, accessories, cutlery, collectables and antiques, CDs, DVDs and mobile phones. Each bag of donated items could raise up to €20 for Enable Ireland.
