The Mill’s new podcast series is the business

The Mill Enterprise Hub has launched a new ‘Helping your Business Grow’ podcast in which established entrepreneurs and startups will divulge their most valuable business tips.

Hosted by board member and Co-Chair of The Mill, Colm Hanratty, each episode will be broken up into two contrasting sections – part one will ask well known entrepreneurs for their top business tip while they’ll also share their experience on starting and scaling a business.

The second part is called “Meet the Miller” where Colm will interview one of the startup companies at The Mill Enterprise Hub.

In the first episode, the CEO and co-founder of Learnosity, Drogheda man Gavin Cooney, talks about his top five business tips, and how the online education assessment and teaching software provider has scaled from initial startup in 2007 to providing solutions to 40 million annual global users. Later in the episode new Collon-based lifestyle brand Carpe Omnia share their story of how and why they launched their business.

Colm Hanratty, whose digital marketing agency Sixtwo Digital is located in The Mill, says “It is apt that Gavin was chosen as the first interviewee as he was a guest panellist at The Mill’s  official opening in May 2014 and has gone on to even greater success since then.

“He is an inspiration for Irish startups and provides a great insight into the travails of scaling a business including hustling for sales, determining the lifetime value of a customer, the critical importance of cashflow, and the need to truly identify your market and develop domain expertise that can offer real value to clients.”

Breanndán Casey, Enterprise and Innovation Manager at The Mill added “Carpe Omnia is the Latin for ‘Seize it all’ which the McKeowns have taken to heart as they continue to create new products and develop international customers. It was great to speak to such ambitious founders, alongside the more experienced Gavin Cooney as both companies were able to give great practical tips on running a company.”

“The Mill is in the process of creating a podcast studio and will be encouraging Millers (residents of The Mill) and the wider business community to avail of relevant training and to access our facilities as podcasts have become a valuable marketing tool for companies of all sizes. It was great to have fellow-Miller, Ronan McQuillan to work alongside us on the podcast production and it is another example of the Miller community coming together to support each other.”
