Stronger Together: Drogheda Life Launches Year-Long Partnership with the Women & Children’s Refuge

Drogheda Life has announced the Drogheda Women & Children’s Refuge as its official charity partner for the year ahead, spanning late 2025 into 2026.

The partnership marks a new chapter for Drogheda Life, reflecting its growing commitment to using local media as a positive force for good in the community. Through the year-long collaboration, the team will raise awareness of the Refuge’s vital work, support fundraising campaigns and events, donate ad space across the brand, and provide strategic marketing and media consultancy to help the organisation reach and support more families in need.

Speaking about the partnership, Drogheda Life’s owner Katie Kierans said the decision came from a deeply personal place:

“We really believe in the power of community and partnership, and when I decided to take over Drogheda Life, I knew I wanted to use the platform as a positive source for good in our community.

The Refuge has always held a special place in my heart because I’ve often thought about how challenging and brave it must be for any woman to make the decision to leave a situation of domestic abuse. The courage it takes to step into the unknown, to rebuild, and to protect your family is something I have immense respect and admiration for.

This is the first charity I approached for a formal partnership, and it’s one that really aligns with our values. While we support a wide range of local causes, this year we wanted to focus on one organisation to dedicate our time and energy in a way that can make a real difference.”

The Drogheda Women & Children’s Refuge (DWCR) has been operating for over 25 years, supporting women and children experiencing domestic, sexual, or gender-based violence. Their services include a 24-hour helpline, emergency accommodation, outreach support, court accompaniment, and a range of therapeutic supports.

The organisation is currently developing a Community Resource Hub, including a dedicated Teen Hub, as part of its outreach programme, a major local initiative designed to provide safe, trauma-informed spaces for women and young people affected by abuse.

The team at the Refuge say the partnership with Drogheda Life will play a vital role in helping them reach more people, sustain community fundraising, and continue to highlight the realities of domestic abuse locally.

The partnership also aims to shine a light on the human side of the issue, reminding the community that every woman’s journey is different, and that compassion, understanding, and awareness can be life-changing.
