



Drogheda & District AC had a weekend to remember, with standout performances at the Ratoath Half Marathon on Saturday morning followed by a strong team display at the Dromiskin 5K that evening.
Half Marathon Success in Ratoath
With over 1,600 finishers on the fast, flat course, Colin Leonard led the way for the club, taking 3rd place overall in 1:11:54. Brian Martin followed in 4th with 1:12:38, while Ruaidhri Nolan continued his Dublin Marathon build-up with 1:14:59.
Strong runs came right through the field: Brian Carrig (1:29:44), John Cooper (1:31:20), Joe Carroll (1:43:56), and David Campbell (1:45:00) were joined by first female finisher for the club, Yvonne McMahon (1:45:04), and Helga McDonnell (1:45:34).
Others delivering solid efforts included Liam Farrell (1:55:28), debutant Shankar Lal (1:58:23), Barney Flannery (2:05:49), Linda Bowe (2:12:46), and Martin Woods (2:13:02).

Later that evening, club athletes turned out in force again. Paul Smith (15:53), Colin Dyas (15:54), Rodney Thornton (16:27), and Aedan Prone (18:33) secured 3rd team prize with four strong runs, Prone impressing on his return from injury.
Other strong finishes included Morgan Reid (19:26), Mia Jacob (20:37), Ciara O’Reilly (21:36), David O’Neill (22:39), and Martin Duffy (23:27). The women’s squad also impressed with Karl Cooney (24:36), Elva Maree (24:38), Roisin McGeough (25:00), Alan Floyd (25:05), Brenda Kirwan (26:08), and Maria Cooney (26:24) all running well.
From podium finishes to PB chases, Drogheda & District AC showed strength, depth, and team spirit — setting them up perfectly for the autumn racing season.
