Shane Williams steps into role as new Principal of Drogheda Institute of Further Education

Louth and Meath Education and Training Board has announced the appointment of Shane Williams as the new Principal of Drogheda Institute of Further Education.

The appointment follows a comprehensive recruitment process carried out by the LMETB Recruitment Section in recent months.

Shane is already a familiar face within the college, having been part of the senior management team since 2021 where he served as Deputy Principal. During that time, he played a key role in the continued growth and development of DIFE, helping to strengthen programme provision while supporting both staff and learners.

He brings extensive experience in further education, having spent six years as Deputy Principal at DIFE. Before that, he held a similar role at O’Fiaich Institute of Further Education and was also part of the senior leadership team at Monaghan Institute with Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board.

Over the course of his career, Shane has built a strong reputation for leadership, innovation and a clear focus on learner success.

Speaking after his appointment, he said it was a privilege to take on the role.

“I am looking forward to working with our staff, learners and partners to continue the positive progress at DIFE in the years ahead. Together, we will expand opportunities for people across the region to access high quality education and training that can lead to employment, apprenticeships and further study.”

LMETB has congratulated Shane on his appointment and said it looks forward to working with him as he leads the college into its next phase.
