Well known community worker Peter James Nugent intends to put his name forward as an independent candidate in the local elections in May and he is already getting his campaign into gear.
Peter James is best known for his work with the LGBTQ community but he’s also involved in many other spheres of activity in the local community.
To get his campaign rolling Peter James is hosting an event on Thursday next, February 9th, from 12 noon to 2pm in the Martello Room at Millmount Museum, where he and members of An Garda Síochána will talk about crime prevention and there will also be a chance to have you property engraved with your phone number.
“One of my main points of focus is antisocial behaviour and protecting our community and their belongings” Peter James said.
“I’ve teamed up with the local Garda station to help provide a free educational talk and property marking service which is open to everyone in Drogheda.
“At Christmas there were lots of presents such as bikes and scooters given to children and I am encouraging parents or guardians to use this property marking service, which is free of charge and will be a great help if they were stolen or mislaid.
“As I am currently running for local elections my aim is to organise more safety awareness talks and to be visible in our community alongside An Garda Síochana.”
“I look forward to seeing you there.”
