Temporary closure of sections of the M1 to facilitate road works

TEMPORARY CLOSING OF ROADS

SECTION 75 ROADS ACT, 1993

Louth County Council hereby gives notice of its decision to close sections of the M1 from Junction 18 to Junction 14, as outlined (and vice versa) at night-time on various dates over a six-week period to facilitate Celtic Roads Group (CRG) to facilitate road works.

The Closures & Diversion route will be as follows: 

  1. Southbound section of the M1 between Junction 18 to Junction 16 (for 2 nights) – within the period 23rd September to 3rd November. 

- Diversion using the following national roads; Junction 18 to Junction 16 via the N52 Inner Relief Road.

Diversions will be in place, at night time only, between the hours of 19.30-05.30.

  1. Northbound within sections of the M1 between Junction 16 to Junction 18 (for 2 nights) – within the period 23rd September to 3rd November. 

- Diversion using the following national roads; Junction 16 to Junction 18 via the N52 Inner Relief Road.

Diversions will be in place, at night time only, between the hours of 20.30-06.30. 

  1. Southbound section of the M1 between Junction 16 to Junction 14 (for 4 nights) – within the period 23rd September to 3rd November. 

- Diversion using the following national roads; Junction 16 to Junction 14 via the N52 Ardee, N33 to M1 J14.

Diversions will be in place, at night time only, between the hours of 19.30-05.30. 

  1. Northbound within sections of the M1 between Junction 14 to Junction 16 (for 5 nights) – within the period 23rd September to 3rd November. 

- Diversion using the following national roads; Junction 16 to Junction 18 via the N33, N52 Ardee to M1 J16.

Diversions will be in place, at night time only, between the hours of 20.30-06.30. 

The total duration of the roadworks is expected to be six weeks, during which time the motorway mainline, interchange slip roads, roundabouts and side roads may be closed.  It is the intention of Celtic Roads Group (CRG) to minimise the number of and duration of road closures within the above period. 

Contingency has been included in the six-week period to allow for disruption to works due to weather conditions etc. and every effort will be made to complete works in less than six weeks. 

The closures will affect both carriageways at different periods, only one carriageway (Northbound or Southbound) will be closed at any given time.
