Love Drogheda Business Improvement District (BID) has announced the successful completion of its Flower Grant Scheme 2026. The collaborative initiative has seen 30 local businesses transform their shopfronts with vibrant floral displays, significantly enhancing the visual appeal and atmosphere of the town centre.
The project operated on a shared funding model, with Love Drogheda BID contributing up to €200 per business towards the purchase of flowers, hanging baskets, and window boxes. Participating ratepayers matched the funding, demonstrating a shared commitment to improving Drogheda’s urban landscape. Over the last number of years the BID has invested significantly in adding to the towns floral displays, with hundreds of additional floral displays each summer.

The collective effort has successfully injected a burst of colour and greenery into the commercial heart of the town. By softening the streetscape, the project has created a more environment, directly supporting the BID’s ongoing mission to make Drogheda an
exceptional place to live, work, socialise, and do business in.
The initiative has drawn praise for its ability to foster civic pride and enhance the town’s overall aesthetic value ahead of the busy summer season.
“The success of the 2026 Flower Grant Scheme highlights what can be achieved when the BID and our resilient business community work hand-in-hand,” said Sarah Taaffe, Love Drogheda BID Chairperson. “By adding this burst of colour and vibrancy to our streets, we are not just improving the town’s appearance; we are actively creating a more welcoming environment that encourages people to stay longer, support local commerce, and take pride in Drogheda.”
This project follows the positive reception of the new “Flora and Fauna” mural on Meatmarket Lane, also designed to soften the streetscape of the towns laneways and add colour and interest. Love Drogheda BID is continuing with their dedication to improving the public realm with their second edition of their Facades project, which is currently underway, transforming some of the towns facades.
