Network Ireland Louth recently hosted a powerful and inspiring event at the Monasterboice Inn to mark Global Diversity Month. Titled “From Hidden Challenges to Visible Success,” the event attracted a strong attendance of both members and non-members, highlighting the growing interest in diversity and inclusion among members.

Organised by Liz Dayspring of A Taste of Culture, the event brought together two engaging panels of thought provoking speakers. The day was expertly guided by MC Katie Kierans of Kierans Media Ltd, who ensured an engaging flow throughout.

The first panel featured Tracey Smith of Intreo, Ann Fallon of Louth and Meath Education and Training Board, and Yemi Adenuga of Meath County Council. Together, they shared valuable insights into the supports available for both employers and individuals.

Tracey Smith outlined employer supports such as JobsPlus and highlighted the benefits of inclusive hiring practices, particularly in employing individuals with disabilities. Ann Fallon spoke about education and upskilling opportunities, including Skills to Advance and Springboard, as well as the guidance services available to learners. Yemi Adenuga delivered a particularly inspiring contribution, reflecting on her journey into local politics and her work supporting women from diverse cultural backgrounds in Ireland. Emphasising the importance of values, she posed the question, “Can I have it all?” and concluded, “Yes, you can, but you have to determine what your ‘all’ is.”

Summing up the discussion, MC Katie Kierans reminded attendees that success does not have to be achieved alone and encouraged everyone to lean into the supports and networks available to them.

The second panel brought together a group of dynamic female entrepreneurs, including Cathy Chiduza of Holistic Healthcare, Emma Ward of The Content Canvas, and Marta Jedlinska of Reiki & Sound Healing. Each speaker shared honest reflections on their business journeys, describing them in one word: “resilience,” “rollercoaster,” and “self-belief.”

They spoke candidly about the challenges they have faced, from navigating cultural differences and building networks in a new Country, to balancing family life, including raising a child with autism, and overcoming language barriers. Despite these obstacles, their message was clear: ask for help, stay persistent, and build on your achievements.

The event concluded with a lively networking session, where attendees connected and continued conversations while enjoying a selection of food prepared by A Taste of Culture. The strong engagement and positive feedback ensured the event’s success and highlighted its potential as a recurring fixture in the Network Ireland Louth calendar.
