Every Halloween since they opened, the team at The Smugglers Rest in Clogherhead have hosted live theatrical dinners to pay homage to the local legend that is the headless Captain Redman.
This year headless Captain Redman has issued a general invitation for people to join him on October 28th for a gut busting banquet in The Smugglers Rest in Clogherhead.
Learn about Captain Redman’s ill-fated journey from Spain to Clogherhead over 300 years ago which was plagued with tales of treachery, suspicion, and murder!
For centuries Captain Redman has roamed headless around the village of Clogherhead terrifying the locals who dare to venture toward his cave during the festival of Samhain.
At this time of year, every year, when the veil between his world and ours is at its thinnest, sightings of The Headless Captain have been recorded and noted on a regular basis.
“It is truly one of the funniest and best nights in the Smugglers calendar” says Damien Kierans, of The Smugglers Rest.
“The live theatrics from Sarah Nolan and her actors all dressed up as rag tag petty sailors, and of course Captain Redman himself is such a great laugh with jump scares throughout.
“It’s a mix of an interactive attraction like the London Dungeon with a theatrical stage show mixed in and overall, just a brilliant fancy dress night out in the local with your family and friends”.
It wouldn’t be much of banquet without food so included in the ticket price is a three-course seasonal banquet that is very much intertwined with the show.
This year they’ve upped the ante with added effects including smoke machines, lighting and sound effects, a bigger collection of local ghost stories and even more props so all guests will be fully immersed and part of the performance. There will also be live music with some special guests to sing some songs of the Music of the Night.
Some come join the captain for a chilling night of
- Live performances
- Live theatrics
- Live music
- Ghost stories from the Boyne valley region
- A bountiful Samhain feast
- & Much much more!
Tickets are now on sale for €40 and can be bought over the counter at The Smugglers Rest or online through their normal reservation channels by reserving a table for the 28th October at https://dishcult.com/
