Fundraising efforts helping to keep Clogherhead Lifeboat ready for action

Keeping the Clogherhead Lifeboat afloat and ready to save lives at sea at any time means that fundraising efforts by members of the community are vital.

One such fundraiser is a special event taking place on Friday October 27th in Callystown National School with funds shared between the school and the RNLI.

This event features the superb Drogheda Male Voice Choir with David Leddy, the Clogherhead based ‘Oriel Sounds’: a group of singers and musicians who are going from strength to strength and of course the fabulous Callystown National School choir.

Tickets for the event are available in the school on Thursday 12th, 19th and 26th October from 1.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. or by contacting Siobhan on 086-8568283.

This event, which is generously sponsored by Connect Credit Union, is definitely a night not to be missed!

One man who is eternally grateful to the volunteers at Clogherhead RNLI station is Nicky McAnallen.

He was rescued by the RNLI crew when he got into difficulty while out kayaking a number of years ago. He was one of many people who turned up at the fundraising Car Wash last Saturday.

“As always, we very much appreciate the support shown by all who turned up to have cars washed on the day” said spokesperson Robin Barnes.

“Well done to all our volunteers who kept the foam a’ flowing! An astounding €1,817.30 was raised!”

Another big hit for Clogherhead RNLI, this time sharing the proceeds with Tredagh Lodge Drogheda Day Care Centre, was the Oriel Sounds concert in the Droichead Arts Centre last Saturday night (picturted above). It was a great night of music in aid of two very worthy causes.
