Funding of €15,955 has been awarded for the refurbishment of Tenure playground, as part of a wider national investment in play and recreation facilities.
The funding forms part of a €600,000 package announced by Norma Foley, which will support 30 local authorities through this year’s Capital Grant Scheme for Play and Recreation.
Welcoming the announcement, Erin McGreehan said:
“Playgrounds are vital for providing safe spaces for children in the heart of our communities. They are often the places where children interact with others for the first time and can play a crucial role in their development.
“This funding will be essential in improving access and maintenance so that more children and families can continue to enjoy our playgrounds.”
The Capital Grant Scheme for Play and Recreation supports local authorities in improving access to quality play and recreation facilities within their communities. Grants of up to €22,000 are available per project, helping to deliver improvements that benefit children and families across the country.
A strong focus has also been placed on inclusion and accessibility, ensuring children of all abilities can access and enjoy high quality play facilities alongside their peers.
