Three young artists from Drogheda have been recognised in this year’s 72nd Texaco Children’s Art Competition, each receiving top honours for their work.

The students, all from The Arthouse, are Eshika Eva Paul (13), Kate Hennigan (10) and Lidiia Antoniuk (7). Each was awarded a Special Merit Award, with final adjudicator Pauline O’Connell praising their entries for displaying “high levels of skill and creativity.”

Eshika Eva Paul is no stranger to success in the competition, having also received Special Merit Awards in 2024, 2021 and 2020, highlighting her continued talent and dedication to her craft.

The Texaco Children’s Art Competition is widely regarded as the longest running sponsorship in Irish arts, with a history dating back to 1955. Over the decades, it has provided a platform for young artists from across the country to showcase their work and gain national recognition.

This year’s results once again highlight the strong artistic talent emerging from Drogheda, with the three students’ achievements reflecting both their individual creativity and the support of local art education through The Arthouse.

Their success continues a proud tradition of participation from Louth, with young artists from the county consistently making their mark in the prestigious national competition.
