Festive “Look for Louth” Drive Aims to Support Local Jobs and Retailers

As the festive season draws near, the Local Enterprise Office Louth has officially launched its 2025 “Look for Louth” campaign, encouraging shoppers to back local businesses when picking up Christmas gifts, seasonal supplies, or enjoying nights out.

The campaign aims to shine a spotlight on the shops, producers and service providers that give the county including Drogheda its unique character.

David Conway, Chief Executive of Louth County Council, said the message this year is simple: support the businesses that support our communities.

“Local businesses are more than just places to shop,” he said. “They provide employment, sponsor local activities and invest in the towns and villages we call home. When you ‘Look for Louth’, you’re choosing quality while also helping to sustain livelihoods across the county.”

Nikki Campbell, Head of Enterprise in Louth, echoed the call, noting that even small choices make a real difference.

“Every euro spent locally goes straight back into our communities,” she said. “Whether you’re visiting shops on the high street or buying from Louth-based businesses online, you’re strengthening the local economy. A small action can have a big impact.”

Local retailers are once again stocking an impressive range of gifts, crafts, homeware, food, fashion and more  with many expanding their online services to make shopping local more convenient than ever.

“Just adding ‘Louth’ to your search when shopping online can be a game-changer,” Nikki added. “You’d be surprised at what’s available right on your doorstep, often with faster delivery and a more personal service.”

The Look for Louth Christmas Shopping Directory is now live at localenterprise.ie/Louth, showcasing a wide range of local shops, makers and producers.

Looking ahead to the season, Nikki said the campaign is all about celebrating the county’s talent and entrepreneurship.

“‘Look for Louth’ is more than a slogan  it’s a community effort. Let’s make this Christmas one that truly highlights the best of Louth.”
