As excitement builds ahead of Louth’s All-Ireland football semi-final next week, ESB Networks is reminding supporters to celebrate safely by keeping flags and bunting away from electricity poles and overhead wires. The company is warning that attaching decorations to or near the electricity network poses a serious risk of electrocution and is urging the public to avoid putting themselves in danger while showing their county colours.
Even coming close to these live wires is extremely hazardous and can be fatal. As a matter of public safety, ESB Networks are appealing to the public not to put themselves at risk of electrocution by doing this at any time.
Carol Murphy, ESB Networks Area Manager, commented: “We would like to remind the general public to always stay safe and stay clear of electricity wires and cables as these are always live and potentially dangerous. If you see a potentially dangerous situation or in the event of an emergency involving the electricity network, please contact us immediately.”
ESB Networks’ emergency phone number is 1800 372 999 (24 hours/7 days).
