Drogheda Tidy Towns wins 18th Gold Medal at regional awards

Drogheda Tidy Towns has been awarded a Gold Medal at the SuperValu Tidy Towns Competition Regional Awards.

The award was presented in Dún Laoghaire by Health Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill and marks the 18th time the group has received a Gold Medal since the competition began.

Members of the committee, including Alan Lynch and Eamon Clinton, were present to accept the award.

Drogheda Tidy Towns said: “This is something the whole community can be very proud of. It’s only possible thanks to the ongoing efforts of our volunteers, TUS, local businesses, community organisations, schools, other groups, the Council and everyone across Drogheda who plays their part.”

Mayor of Drogheda Michelle Hall also congratulated the group and thanked them for their continued work across the town.

The award comes just days after Drogheda Tidy Towns was also recognised with a Best of the Boyne Green Award from Drogheda and District Chamber and Oxigen Environmental.

The group said the recognition reflects the ongoing work to keep Drogheda clean and green and the strong community spirit behind it.

“A huge thank you to our committee members, volunteers, residents, schools, businesses, community groups, Council and other stakeholders including the Chamber.

“Every clean-up, every project, every improvement very much needs this shared community effort,” they added.
