Drogheda’s streets, cafés, and shopfronts came alive on Friday night as Droichead Arts Centre’s Night Moves programme lit up the town for Culture Night 2025.
Running from 9.45pm until midnight, the ambitious late-night schedule brought together light installations, music, spoken word, visual art, and markets in venues not usually associated with the arts.
Highlights included NIGHT POOLS, a light trail by artist Vivienne Byrne with projections, lanterns, and a sculpture garden that reimagined Drogheda’s natural landscape, and Tracings, a series of live sound and image performances by Dublin composer Daire Lennon.
The town’s cafés hosted intimate gigs, poetry, and opera late into the night, while McHugh’s transformed into a bustling Night Market, and Ariosa Coffee became a pop-up bookshop for Night Books, complete with a live reading from Dagogo Hart.
The event built on the success of recent late-night initiatives, drawing large, intergenerational crowds who moved between spaces to experience art in new ways.
From soundscapes to shopfront projections, Culture Night once again showcased Drogheda’s creativity, collaboration, and energy — and our gallery captures some of the magic.
