Drogheda and District Floral Art Group, better known as the Drogheda Flower Club, are to host a floral Gala Night on Tuesday, 8th of November at the Glenside Hotel at 8 p.m. sharp as part of the Club’s 60th Anniversary celebrations.
The night’s entertainment will include the creation of a number of spectacular floral arrangements by renowned floral artist and demonstrator, Margaret Quinn.
The theme of the demonstration will be ‘Tis the Season’, incorporating the joys and colours of the November, December and January festive season.
There will be a Bumper Raffle on the night for prizes, including the finished creations themselves, as well as a series of fabulous hampers. There will also be a special free draw on the ticket stub.
All proceeds for the night will go to the Drogheda Hospice Homecare Foundation, which is an organisation set up to provide support for cancer patients, their families and support groups.
The Foundation achieves this wonderful support mainly by the provision of forty-two volunteer drivers to bring cancer patients to and from their hospital appointments, mainly to St. Lukes’, Mater and St. James’ hospitals, and has been in operation for twenty-seven years.
As well as the drivers, the Foundation provides night nursing support to augment the HSE’s palliative care team as well as the provision of palliative care equipment – beds, mattresses, wheelchairs and commodes.
The Foundation provides these voluntary compassionate and invaluable services within the general Drogheda area and is entirely self-funded by local donations and bequests and does not receive any statutory funding of any kind.
