Drogheda Credit Union recently celebrated the recipients of its Higher Education Scholarship Programme at a presentation in its Drogheda branch, where 15 local student members were each awarded €1,000 to support their further and higher education journeys.
This initiative puts the credit union’s commitment to education into action, providing practical financial support as students build their skills, pursue their interests and work towards their future careers.
The programme was launched earlier this year and is open to members entering or already attending university, technological universities, PLC courses, apprenticeships and other recognised further education and training programmes.
The scholarships are designed to help ease some of the financial pressures associated with continuing education and training.

Supporting different education routes
Drogheda Credit Union said the broad eligibility of the programme reflects the different routes people can take towards gaining qualifications and building a career.
Newly appointed CEO Sarah McGee highlighted the thinking behind the initiative at the recent presentation to the students:
As a community-focused financial institution, Drogheda Credit Union has always been about much more than banking. Education opens doors, creates opportunities and helps shape futures, and we are delighted to be able to play a small part in helping our members achieve their ambitions through this scholarship programme.
Drogheda Credit Union congratulated all 15 recipients and wished them success in their studies and training.
