Drogheda Brass Band wins fifth consecutive national title

Drogheda Brass Band has claimed its fifth consecutive national title after winning Section One Brass at the National Brass Band Championships of Ireland.

The band secured an impressive score of 96 points, earning its 17th national title overall during the championships held at the Bohemian Centre in Ardee.

Hosted by Ardee Concert Band, the event saw 18 bands from across Ireland compete throughout the day under the Irish Association of Brass and Concert Bands.

Drogheda’s winning performance featured Friendly Takeover by Oliver Waespi, a demanding test piece that highlighted the band’s precision and musicality.

Navan Silver Band finished a close second on 95 points, while Lourdes Brass Band took third place with 93 points.

Alongside winning the Section One title, Drogheda Brass Band also picked up awards for Best Section One Band and Best Overall Band of the Competition.

The day also brought special recognition for Musical Director Stephen Murray, who was awarded Honorary Life Membership of the Irish Association of Brass and Concert Bands for his contribution to brass banding at both local and national level.

The latest success further strengthens Drogheda Brass Band’s reputation as one of Ireland’s leading brass ensembles, continuing a run of success built on years of dedication, teamwork and musical excellence.
