Don completes his 365 – Day Cycle Challenge in aid of Tredagh Lodge

A year ago today, Don Thornton, a teacher in St. Mary’s school, set out to cycle 11,000 kms this year to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Tredagh Lodge Day Care Centre – that’s one kilometre for each person in Ireland diagnosed with the disease.

True to his word, Don has cycled for at least an hour every day for the entire year to raise funds for Tredagh Lodge and also doing his best to increase awareness of Alzheimer’s disease.

“Alzheimer’s is a cause very close to my heart” Don said. My Dad lived with the disease for over 10 years, and the support provided by the Day Care Centre was invaluable to both him and our family.

“This year marks the fifth anniversary of his passing, and I want to honour his memory by raising funds and awareness for this incredible Centre.”

Don’s marathon cycle is complete but you can still donate to this challenge by clicking here: https://www.idonate.ie/365cyclechallenge
