The School of Health and Science at Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) has adopted the ‘One Health’ concept, a worldwide strategy for expanding interdisciplinary collaborations and communications in all aspects of health and wellbeing for humans, animals and the environment.
The ‘One Health’ strategy aims to develop interdisciplinary programmes of study and research and communicate the ‘One Health’ concept to their community.
As part of this strategy the School is hosting a Seminar Series this year aimed at DkIT stakeholders and the wider community.
The first of these seminars will be delivered by Dr. Julie Doyle, Director of NETWELLCasala Research Centre on the 29th April at 7pm.
Dr. Doyle will discuss research happening at NetwellCASALA, in relation to designing and evaluating a digital health platform to support older people self-managing multiple chronic conditions, such as diabetes, heart failure and COPD, at home.
She will discuss key design considerations for the platform to ensure it is easy to use, as well as outline findings from two long-term studies, ProACT and SMILE, whereby over 200 older adults with multiple chronic conditions used the platform to manage their conditions over a period of one year, with support from people in their care network (including healthcare professionals, formal and informal carers).
