Community Quiz Night to Support Little Peadar’s Stem Cell Treatment

A special community quiz night will take place on Friday, 27 March at 7:30pm in The Black Bull, Drogheda, to help raise vital funds for life-changing stem cell therapy for four-year-old Peadar O’Boyle, a little boy whose courage has inspired people across the region.

Born in December 2021 at just 24 weeks gestation, Peadar weighed only 1lb 6oz, smaller than his mother’s hand,” as described in his family’s information sheet. After a major brain bleed at three days old, he spent 111 days in intensive care before finally coming home on World Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day.

Before his first birthday, Peadar was diagnosed with spastic hemiplegic cerebral palsy, affecting movement and muscle tone on the right side of his body. Doctors once warned that independent walking might never be possible, but Peadar has never accepted limits. Every milestone he has reached has been hardwon through thousands of repetitions, daily home physio, and intensive therapy sessions in Ireland, the UK, Poland, and Lanzarote.

Now, his family is seeking support for the next crucial step: specialist stem cell therapy abroad, a treatment with the potential to improve muscle control, mobility, balance, and neurological connections, bringing him closer to walking independently.

For Peadar, this treatment represents possibility, his family explains.

To help fund this treatment, the community is coming together for a Quiz Night Fundraiser on Friday, 27 March at 7:30pm in The Black Bull. Tables of four are €40, with prizes for the top three teams and a raffle featuring some very nice prizes.

Prebooking is available at 087 232 0101, and all proceeds will go directly towards Peadar’s treatment and ongoing therapy needs.

Support for Peadar has also grown through another remarkable effort: a 3,000km cycling challenge undertaken by his cousin Paddy Kelly, who is cycling 100km every day for 30 days to raise awareness and funds. His challenge, which began on 6 March, has captured the hearts of people across Drogheda and beyond, offering another meaningful way for the public to contribute to this worthy cause.

Peadar’s story is one of resilience, joy, and relentless determination. His family, friends, and supporters are asking people to support the quiz night, follow Paddy’s challenge, and help give Peadar the chance to take his next step.
