Independent Councillor Kevin Callan, the Chairman of Louth County Council, has thanked Louth County Council for including Bredin Street in its list for full resurfacing works which will be carried out in the evenings and at night this week in advance of schools returning in the coming weeks.
“This road is an extremely important part of the school transport network and had received a number of temporary patches to keep it functioning, but residents have been seeking a full repair and this is now being facilitated” Cllr Callan said.
The street will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week from 7pm to 6am each night and there will be a traffic management system in place during the days including a stop-go traffic and pedestrian plan.
Cllr, Callan added that he is delighted that the works will be done to help residents, school traffic and those living not only in Bredin Street but in Greenhills and Maple Drive.
“The works being done before the return of schools will help to prevent substantial disruption to traffic in September” he said.
