Callan concerned that no end time given for Drogheda water works this weekend

The Cathaoirleach of Louth County Council, Kevin Callan has said that the lack of a definite completion time for this weekend’s water works in Drogheda is not acceptable and that Irish Water should give the public a timeframe for works that does not lead to uncertainty.

“Like everyone else I fully understand that these works are essential but there is no guarantee being given for the time limit on works including the Donore Road, a key road in and out of Drogheda requiring a reduced capacity for traffic.

“I am requesting that officials in Louth County Council maintain and require lines of communication with Irish Water through its local authority liaison section to make sure the public are notified on all aspects of the work throughout the weekend with regular updates, unlike similar situations recently in and around Greenhills where there was little or no communications with home owners, businesses or vulnerable persons who had no idea what was going on.

Given that the area affected by the outages extends to Baltray, Termonfeckin and Clogherhead, Cllr. Callan is also  requesting additional tanker locations

“I and other public representatives are continuously having to chase Irish Water for updates in recent times and this is not acceptable, the public are entitled to know what is happening when it impacts on their daily lives and their home or business supply of water.”
