Council to Begin Completion Works at Bryanstown Wood Estate in Drogheda

Labour TD Ged Nash has confirmed that Meath County Council plans to begin the process of completing vital infrastructure works at Bryanstown Wood estate in Drogheda, bringing it to the stage where it can be taken in charge by the local authority.

Deputy Nash said: “After many months of hard work behind the scenes, and following the liquidation of Coreet Limited, the developer of the estate, I am pleased to confirm that Meath County Council has agreed to use the bond lodged by the developers to complete the estate.

“Local residents representatives and I met with the liquidator of the company in Leinster House last Thursday, and this led then to a meeting on Tuesday morning with Meath County Council officials.

“The liquidator has provided the Council with their consent to access the estate. Less than an hour after my meeting with the Council, they and Uisce Éireann engaged on site so that they could start to address an urgent issue in part of the estate, which has led to an apparent sewage overflow.

“Meath County Council officials committed to me and to the local residents’ representative present at today’s meeting that they are preparing tender documents to procure contractors to complete the estate, and that they will keep me and local residents appraised of each step of the process.”

The Louth Labour TD added: “This has been an extremely trying time for residents who paid good money to make the biggest investment that most of us will ever make, that is the purchase of our homes, only for the developer to ride off into the sunset, leaving a complex set of problems behind and for which we now have a resolution.

“I want to sincerely thank the liquidator with Kroll and the officials from Meath County Council for sticking with this issue and for showing imagination and commitment in terms of a plan to address these issues with and for local residents, who have demonstrated enormous patience.”
