A proud moment for the Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue

There was a proud moment for the volunteers of the Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service (BFRRS) on Saturday as their work was celebrated at a special ceremony held by the National Ambulance Service in the Boyne Valley Hotel in Drogheda.

BFRRS was presented with a medal and certificate by the National Ambulance Service in recognition of the work conducted by their volunteer crews who operated around the clock throughout the covid 19 pandemic.

Since Covid started the crews of the BFRRS have done thousands of hours across PPE deliveries, PPE preparation, Collection and drop offs medical equipment to name a few.

They continue to be a PPE hub for the North East Region with the storage of PPE for the local community first responder groups.

As the community first responders for the Drogheda Area, BFRRS were among a number of groups to receive this honour.

“While all of the above can be conducted we still continue to provide a fast ,efficient and safe fully equipped marine search and rescue service for our community” a spokesperson said.
