Gardaí investigating the disappearance and murder of Kyran Durnin (8 years) have today, Tuesday 10th December 2024, arrested a woman on suspicion of his murder.
The woman is being detained under Section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda Station in the East of the Country.
An Garda Síochána continues to appeal to any person with any information, on the disappearance and murder of Kyran Durnin, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to contact the Garda Investigation Team at Drogheda Garda Station on 041 987 4200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or speak with any member of An Garda Síochána.
Kyran and his mother Dayla were reported missing on the 30th August 2024but, despite extensive enquiries carried out by An Garda Síochána, they have been unable to either locate Kyran, identify any information on his current whereabouts or any evidence that he is currently alive.
On September 24 Rhonda Byrne Tyson, whose daughter Dayla Durnin had been missing since Wednesday August 28 along with her eight year-old grandson Kyran, issued an impassioned appeal via Drogheda life for her daughter to contact her.
Rhonda told Drogheda Life that Dayla, and Kyran and her two other children, Isla (3) and Laseigh (7) had been staying at her home in Hand Street for some time and she last saw her daughter on that Wednesday night when she went to bed at about 11.00 pm.
Dayla, and Kyran had, she said, slept on the couch, but when Rhonda got up the next morning both of them had gone from the house. Dayla had left a note on the table saying that she needed to get away for a few days.
The investigation is being led by a Senior Investigation Officer (SIO) based out of an incident room established at Drogheda Garda Station.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who has any information in connection with the disappearance of Kyran to contact Drogheda Garda Station on 041 987 4200 , the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, will be welcomed by the investigation team. This information will be treated in the strictest confidence.
Update as of 4.45 pm Wednesday December 11 – Gardaí investigating the disappearance and murder of Kyran Durnin (8 years) have released the 24 year old woman who was arrested yesterday, Tuesday 10th December 2024 without charge.
