Final design plans for the new Hospice in Drogheda were unveiled today, it’s to be called the Newgrange Hospice and will be located at the Medical Missionaries of Mary site at Boyle O’Reilly Terrace.
Local TD Fergus O’Dowd hailed it as “A Bright Day for Drogheda” saying it will provide much improved care and dignity for people who are at end of life.
The Deputy was speaking at the HSE’s presentation of the final design plans for the Newgrange Hospice which is to be located at the Medical Missionaries of Mary site at Boyle O’Reilly Terrace (see diagram above).
“The design plans have now been finalised ahead of a full planning application which is expected to be submitted shortly” O’Dowd said.
“This would not have been possible without the tireless work and campaigning of Professor Dominic O’Brannigan, alongside the Medical Missionaries of Mary and the HSE and many others that have contributed greatly to this point.
“We must prioritise the care of people at end of life to provide exceptional care in an appropriate and dignified environment.
O’Dowd added “It is a positive day for Drogheda and the wider North East and this transformative plan will have my full support into the future.”
