A New Chapter for Ardee Castle as €1 Million in Funding is Secured

Ardee Castle, one of Ireland’s most historically significant medieval buildings, is getting a new lease on life thanks to a fresh €1 million investment. Louth Senator Alison Comyn has hailed the funding, confirmed by Minister Dara Calleary, as a game changer for the town of Ardee.

“This is fantastic news for Ardee and for County Louth,” Senator Comyn stated. “This investment will play a central role in securing its future.”

This latest injection of cash, which supplements the €2.147 million already committed in 2019, will be used to tackle a range of key areas.

Plans include not just the vital structural restoration of the historic tower, but also the development of new visitor access and interpretive features that will help bring the castle’s rich history to life for locals and tourists alike.

Beyond the castle walls, the funding will also support public realm improvements and landscaping, ensuring the surrounding area is as welcoming as the castle itself.

Educational and community initiatives are also on the agenda, promising to make the project a source of pride and learning for the entire community.

Senator Comyn believes this project is more than just a historical preservation effort; it’s an investment in the future of the town.

It’s expected to boost tourism, create local jobs, and strengthen the cultural fabric of the entire county.

The hope is that this funding will act as a springboard for even more development in the years to come.
