ACE AC Athletes Shine at Boyne AC Sports Day with Impressive Medal Haul

ACE AC athletes enjoyed a strong day of competition at the Boyne AC Sports Day, bringing home an impressive haul of medals across multiple age groups.

U8 Finn Murphy started the day with silver in the 60 metres and followed it with another silver in the 300 metres after a late surge from fourth place in the final 50 metres.

U9 Harry Reilly ran his first ever race in the 80 metres and performed well. U9 Millie Roche, one of the club’s most improved runners, earned her first medal with bronze in the girls 300 metres.

In the girls U10 80 metres, Catherine Cumming and Clara Plunkett secured medals for the club. Cummings in second and Clara 3rd. Cumming then impressed in the 400m with a brilliant Gold in a tactical race.

In the U13 80 metres, Caoimhe Carolan took bronze. In the u13 boys 600 metres, Ollie Marron struck gold with a well-timed race, moving from fourth at the halfway mark to first in the closing metres. 

The U14 boys 800 metres saw ACE AC take three of the top four places, with victory for Tayo Lawrence, silver for Oisin Murphy, and fourth place for Adam Cumming. Oisin Murphy, had only an hour earlier claimed his first ever individual medal with bronze in the 100 metres. The u15 boys relay team also won bronze.

Caoimhe Carolan added to her earlier sprint bronze with a classy gold in the U13 600 metres. 

In the mixed U16 and U17 800 metres, Chloe Cooney won in a steady time of 2.18 as she continued her return to full fitness ahead of the cross country season.

Meanwhile at the Community Games regional finals in Athlone IT, Ace AC had two representatives for Louth. U12 Smirthi Prasad competed in the girls 100 metres, finishing fifth in her heat.

Carolan, competing up an age group in the girls U14 200 metres, won both her heat and the final to secure her place at the All Ireland finals in Carlow in two weeks’ time. 

Caoimhe will join Ace teammate u8 Finn Murphy at the national finals. Murphy had already secured automatic qualification winning the Louth community games earlier in the summer.
