Music Fills Historic Beaulieu Church at Inaugural Summer Serenade

St Brigid’s Church on the grounds of Beaulieu House welcomed music lovers on Sunday evening for the inaugural Summer Serenade, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the historic venue.

Organised by KenDu Music Julianstown, the special concert showcased the talents of acclaimed violinist Rachel Du and pianist Didzis Kalniņš, who performed a beautifully curated programme of works by international composers Amy Beach, Dmitri Shostakovich, Jānis Mediņš and Jules Massenet, alongside Five for Helen by Drogheda composer Michael Holohan.

Guests also enjoyed a wine reception, adding to the atmosphere of what proved to be a memorable evening in the unique surroundings of St Brigid’s Church.

The concert marked the first event in what is hoped will become a vibrant future for the church as a venue for the arts and civil ceremonies.

Speaking ahead of the event, Cara König Brock of Beaulieu House said she looked forward to seeing St Brigid’s Church become an important addition to Drogheda’s cultural life.

With its historic setting and excellent acoustics, Sunday’s Summer Serenade offered a glimpse of the exciting possibilities for the beautifully restored venue as it begins its new role as a space for music, culture and community events.
