Tredagh Boxing Academy is celebrating a remarkable fortnight on the international stage after two of its top boxers, Grace Conway and Cian Smyth, secured major victories while representing Team Ireland.
The impressive performances highlighted the strength of the Drogheda club, with both athletes showcasing their talent against top European opposition.
The first success came in Stockholm, where Team Ireland took on Sweden in an international dual nations tournament. Grace Conway was selected to compete in the senior 60kg division, adding another milestone to an already outstanding boxing career.
Conway, who is studying physiotherapy at South East Technological University (SETU) in Carlow, was recently named the university’s Sports Star of the Year and shortlisted for Student Sport Ireland’s National Sports Person of the Year award.
A ten-time national champion, National University champion and three-time European silver medallist, Conway stepped up from the Under 20 ranks to face Sweden’s experienced Lilli Ã…rman in the senior international contest.
Grace Conway claimed her first senior international victory with an impressive split decision win over Sweden’s Lilli Ã…rman in Stockholm, helping Team Ireland secure a 5-3 victory in the dual nations tournament. The performance marked another significant milestone for the ten-time national champion as she successfully stepped up to senior international level.
A week later, clubmate Cian Smyth made a dream start to his international career, defeating an experienced Scottish champion by split decision on his Team Ireland debut at the Ireland v Scotland international in Dundalk. The victory crowned Smyth an international winner on his first appearance for his country.

The back-to-back successes underline the strength of Tredagh Boxing Academy, with both boxers continuing to establish themselves among Ireland’s rising stars while showcasing the club’s commitment to developing talent capable of competing on the international stage.
