A planning application has been lodged for what could become one of the largest entertainment venues on the Meath coast.
The proposal would see a new 1,100 seat theatre developed at the Funtasia complex in Bettystown, adding a significant new attraction to the growing Laytown, Bettystown and Mornington area.
Submitted to Meath County Council, the plans include a theatre with balcony seating along with a bar and restaurant. The development would be built above the existing Funtasia building.
The application also includes changes to the current parking layout, with EV charging points, accessible parking spaces and bicycle parking proposed. Solar panels would also be installed as part of the development.
If approved, the project would create a large-scale performance and events space in an area that has seen significant population growth in recent years.
Funtasia has long been a popular destination for families and visitors to the coast, and the addition of a theatre would introduce an entirely new type of venue to the area.
The plans are currently with Meath County Council as part of the planning process and are available for public viewing.
