Drogheda United are back in action on Friday night as they host Sligo Rovers at Sullivan and Lambe Park.
The Boynesiders come into the game on the back of a dramatic 4-3 win over Shelbourne at Tolka Park last week.
Drogheda found themselves two goals down at half time after strikes from Sean Boyd and Paddy Barrett. The game turned in the second half, with Edwin Agbaje and two goals from Warren Davis putting Drogheda 3-2 ahead after 67 minutes.
Shelbourne drew level with ten minutes remaining through a Harry Wood penalty after Conor Keeley fouled Rodrigo Freitas in the box. Keeley responded in the closing stages, scoring from distance to seal the win after Shelbourne failed to clear their lines.
When the sides last met earlier this season, Sligo Rovers came out on top with a 2-1 win at the Showgrounds.
In team news, Scott Brady, Owen Lambe, Ethan O’Brien, Leo Burney and Bridel Bosakani remain sidelined through injury. Mark Doyle made his return from injury against Shelbourne, while Jason Bucknor could also be back in contention.
Kevin O’Sullivan will referee the match, assisted by Darragh Keegan and Eoin Harte, with John S Walsh as fourth official.
Ryan Brennan continues to lead the club’s all time appearances list with 258 games, followed by Conor Kane on 243. Mark Doyle has made 157 appearances, with Andrew Quinn on 121 and Warren Davis reaching 106.
Drogheda’s recent form includes the win over Shelbourne, a penalty shootout loss to Bray Wanderers in the Leinster Senior Cup, and league defeats to St Patrick’s Athletic and Galway United, along with a draw against Bohemians.
