A walk through Georgian Drogheda, a lesson in Nordic walking, an outdoor mindfulness session and a hike through history at Dowth Hall, it’s all happening this coming weekend courtesy of the Drogheda based voluntary group Boyne Valley Trails.
Boyne Valley Trails are doing a great job in promoting the beauty, heritage and culture of the Boyne Valley region through a series of bespoke walks, trails and adventures.
They have already organised several successful walks during the summer and this weekend they have organised several more interesting events.

Nordic Walking along the Boyne Ramparts
Also this Saturday, there’s a chance to learn about Nordic Walking September 25th, starting from Saint Dominic’s Park, The Ramparts, Drogheda at 9:30am to 12 midday.
There will be an introduction to Nordic walking before the walk from 9.30am to 11am.
What is Nordic Walking?
Nordic Walking is an enhancement of ordinary walking but twice as effective! It involves using walking poles which means the upper body muscles are used as well as the legs which means the walker works harder but the support given by the poles makes it feel easier!
It’s excellent for improving posture, which in turn help with back issues. The poles takes pressure off the lower limbs, giving a great upper body workout.
It’s also an excellent way to lose weight, burning 40% more calories than your normal walk, just with the addition of poles.
Tickets (€25) must be booked in advance on https://boynevalleytrails.ie/
