The Crafty Fox fabric, crafts and haberdashery shop at 51 Laurence Street is raising money for the Red Cross Ukraine appeal with a special “Drogheda Quilt for Ukraine” event.
The event, to be held on Saturday 19th March, in the old AIB/Choice premises 98-99 West Street, Drogheda, will involve two local quilting groups, The Butterfly Friends and Drogheda Quilters coming together to sew 35 quilt blocks.
These will then be sewn together and quilted to complete the piece. The finished quilt will either be donated to the Ukrainian community in Ireland or auctioned to raise further funds.
Local businesses have already come onboard to host the event, donate materials, provide tables, refreshments, and spread the word.
Organiser Jackie Jolliffe said, “I have been overwhelmed so far by the positive response from the local community and businesses in pulling this challenge together.
“Now I am asking members of the public to drop in throughout the day to support the ladies in their efforts and donate whatever they can to help the Ukrainian people, who desperately need our support at this time.”

“We have a spirited Ukrainian community in the town and after meeting some of them over the last week I felt motivated to do something practical to help them, their friends and family who are caught up in the conflict”.
Anyone who wishes to donate can do so on the day at the event, or anytime via the Drogheda Quilt for Ukraine Just Giving page, or at The Crafty Fox shop, Laurence St, Drogheda.
The event can be followed on the dedicated @DroghedaQuiltforUkraine Facebook page
