Voices of the Boyne Choir are back and ready to raise the Augustinian roof!

All proceeds going to Connect Family Resource Centre, Moneymore

After a two-year forced absence from public performances, the ladies of Voices of the Boyne Choir are once again gathering for a celebration of song!

The community choir is bursting with excitement at showcasing their talents again in public and are ready to raise the roof of the Augustinian Church.

‘Just Sing; a celebration of singing’ is on Sunday June 26th at 5pm and promises to be an evening of entertainment with some special guests; including Louth Hospitals’ Choir, Amie Dyer, Hannah O’Brien and Niall Gregory.

“We are so thrilled to be back singing again in person after such a long break. There were three long terms of Zoom choir and the satisfaction levels just aren’t the same through a computer screen,” says choir Musical Director Claire Grogan.

“We knew by March of this year that we could cautiously begin a return to singing, and the majority of our members were very happy to meet again on a Wednesday in Abacas School for our weekly rehearsals. I will never forget the atmosphere in the room that night. It was very emotional to be back hearing all the voices together again doing what it is we love to do. It then became clear that a concert was a real possibility and so the committee began planning.”

“We have a wonderful show lined up for Sunday, June 26th in the Augustinian Church. We will be singing a broad range of music, including our two virtual songs that were such a hit on the internet when we produced them during lockdown,” she adds.

“It will be great to perform them for a live audience. We will also be joined by the Louth Hospitals’ Choir, sopranos Amie Dyer and Hannah O’Brien, as well as percussionist Niall Gregory, musicians Tadhg Murphy and friends, and it will all be hosted by the wonderful Michael Comyn of Lyric FM.

“All proceeds from the concert will go towards the Connect Family Resource Centre in Moneymore. We really hope you can join us in celebrating our return to singing”.

Tickets are €10 each or €25 for a family of four (concessions €8) and proceeds go to Connect Family Resource Centre, Moneymore. Tickets available from choir members or The Augustinian Church Office.
