After a lull brought on by the Covid pandemic, the Drogheda and District Support 4 Older People (DDS4OP) trishaw service is being relaunched, with an extra route to Baltray added.
DDS4OP introduced the Tri-shaw service In July 2019, to bring elderly people, many of whom were housebound or living in a nursing home, out for a spin in the fresh air and to visit places they haven’t seen for years.
The idea really caught on. So much so that in July 2020 the Drogheda Lions Club purchased another trishaw to allow DDS4OP to extend the service.
The Covid pandemic took its toll on the service but now they are back up and running and eagerly looking for clients who would fancy a trip out along the Boyne greenway as far as Oldbridge House.
Dave Turner of DDS4OP told Drogheda Life that, as well as the regular route from Dominic’s Park along the ramparts and boardwalk to Oldbridge House, they will soon be staring a second route on Thursdays from Greenhills to Baltray with a stop at the Golf club for tea/coffee etc.
This is a totally free service and it operates from May to September, just phone the office to make a reservation.
Remember, there is no charge for this service but booking is essential. To book a trip please phone the DDS4OP office on 041-9847 764, 086 3772 777 or 1800 200 100.
For more information on the many services offered see the DDS4OP website.
