A special walk in memory one of County Louth’s leading GAA stalwarts, Paddy Clarke, who passed away in 2018 after a lifetime devoted to promoting GAA and sport in general, is being organised for November 12th.
Paddy was Louth manager from 1997 to 2001, when they won an All-Ireland B Championship and a Division 2A league title and was assistant to Brian McEniff on the successful international rules tour to Australia in 2001.
He was a passionate believer in the importance of sport, especially the GAA with its strong community ethos, to the lives and personal development of young people.
The Paddy Clarke Memorial Walk has been organised as a way of remembering Paddy and to raise funds for The Paddy Clarke Youth Development Fund.
This fund is a project that Paddy’s family are working on with members of the various Louth GAA clubs that Paddy was involved in over the years. It is a grassroots initiative which aims to nurture and support youth involvement in GAA.
The walk is taking place on the 12th November starting at 11.00 am at the home of Glen Emmets GFC, Pairc Cusack in Tullyallen, and walking towards King William’s Glen Crossing, The Obelisk Bridge and Oldbridge house before returning to Glen Emmets GFC via the same route for refreshments.
